Following the transition of Culminis to an all volunteer organization in October 2008 and the recent infrastructure changes and the recent change of name to the Global IT Community Association (GITCA), GITCA is seeking volunteer help in a number of technical and administrative positions to support its growth plans and objectives for supporting the community.
Administrative Positions
GITCA has a central Global Board of Directors and 4 Regional Boards of Directors [North America (NORAM), Latin America (LATAM), Europe Middle east & Africa (EMEA)and Asia Pacific (APAC)]. Each Regional Board is responsible for activities in that region. The following positions are open in all regions:
Membership Director - process and help to validate requests for User Group membership in GITCA [knowledge of Microsoft's CRM system would be an asset - training will be provided where required]
Marketing Director - plan and execute marketing campaigns around raising awareness of GITCA in the IT community and its value offering [previous marketing experience would be an asset but not a requirement]
Communications Director - coordinate the production and publication of regional newsletters and other communications, and provide regional material for inclusion in the Global newsletter [previous experience in collecting material and writing newsletters would be an asset]
Although these are regional positions cross-regional coordination and regular communication with the Global Board is important. Typical time commitment would be 10 - 15 hours per month.
Technical Support Positions
The recent infrastructure changes now require that GITCA be self-supporting technically when it comes to its internal operations and in its support for its member organizations. Accordingly the following technical support positions are open:
Help Desk (day to day management of users technical issues)
Windows Server Management
IIS 7 admin
IIS 6 admin (SMTP and FTP services)
BPOS
CRM (Admin)
CRM (Customization)
Web development (ASP, VB)
Active Directory Development (ADSI/LDAP)
SharePoint Admin
We would love to have your help in any of these areas where you have expertise. Since we are still working our way through some of the infrastructure changes, time demands will likely be higher initially, especially where development work is required. Help Desk positions can be particulary demanding because of the need to try and be reasonably responsive. The Help Desk positions also need to cater for language, cultural and time zone issues and thus will require several people. Multiple people may be required in other positions to both spread the workload and to provide inbuilt backup.

As an all volunteer organization we can only thrive by the good nature and dedication of our volunteer supporters. The rewards are what you make of it and the knowledge that you are helping to eventually make a better world.
